I have been trying to determine what would replace my own 7 year old Sony 55″ LCD rear screening machine, which has served me personally very well, for nearly per year. Bought this Television set (UN55C7000) from Amazon in regards to a month ago for about $1800.

Overall I am extremely pleased with the TV. Our prime def quality is actually exceptionally good. I believe Samsung LCDs defeat anyone else’s LCDs in terms of pure picture quality. And also the bezel is very fashionable and thin (although I would have chosen a traditional black will this new sterling silver one).

However, there is room for improvmemnt. I do notice some flashlighting in the corners as some other reviews have mentioned. It’s not terrible along with turning the backlight into 7 helps. It is most noticeable within dark scenes whenever viewed off perspective. I actually bought this TV for my parents house, and i also don’t think they’ve perhaps noticed this flashlighting impact. If you don’t know to find it, you might never notice it.

This Television set also does not have genuine local dimming like the Eight thousand series does. Instead this TV dims or even brightens all the backlights simultaneously. Local dimming would have been great, but that feature possibly isn’t worth the additional $400 that Samsung charges for it.

As far as the actual audio on this TV, it’s pretty good and not great. I assume the reason is now that these Samsung UN55C7000 new LED TVs are so thin, the bottom facing internal speakers cannot really function as well.

For the price Amazon online is charging, this kind of TV is a very good buy. Most users can be really impressed with the display quality and probably never also notice the backlight bleeding concerns unless they are pointed out to them.

Now about the review…. I am just rating the TV because 4 stars as it does not have the exact clarity as my 42″ Panasonic Lcd7 HDTV(TC-P42G10)which is because sharp of a photo as I have experienced. I believe the reason is that regardless how big you HDTV is it is only going to possess 1080 lines of resolution, so the larger the actual HDTV the larger the p. So, the larger the Television the grainer the picture will likely be. This TV far exceeded my expectations. As many others have noted, I too was concerned with the fact that this TV was not 1080p. My parents own a Panasonic Viera 1080p plamsa, and I would say, however, that this LG plasma is very close in quality. I thought that images would not be as clear and crisp as I wanted them to, but I soon found out that I was wrong. From a comfortable viewing distance of 7 or so feet, this TV looks amazing. The detail in characters of movies and games is also impressive. I popped in my Avatar Blu-ray and I was immediately won over. The contrast between the lights and darks is great, and the black levels are very good, which is expected from a plasma. The 600hz refresh rate and fast response time make everything smooth, especially with sports and video games.

The only problem that I have with this TV is the fact that it does not make a good PC monitor. Whenever it is connected to a TV, the native resolution makes the desktop look a little large and mis-shapen, but when playing games from the PC to the screen, things look great. It is also nice that the monitor will accept the 1080p input from my gaming consoles and PC, so those look amazing as well.

The 3D games look great, but I cannot yet comment 42PW350 on the quality of 3D movies. However, because of the great 3-D games, I would have to imagine that a 3D movie would be just as impressive. The 2D to 3D conversion seems a little gimmicky, but it does add depth to your favorite shows and movies. I still prefer the 2D to stay in 2D though.

Overall, I would recommend this plasma. For the price and the inclusion of 2 free pairs of glasses (when I bought it anyways) this deal cannot be beaten. Excellent sound from the on-board speakers and equally amazing picture make me very happy that I bought this television.
