I did not purchase this one Sony STR-DH710 Receiver collecting vessel from amazon.com as i saved $13 online at wally world, even with paying sales tax and getting upgraded delivery to my home. Sorry, amazon.com. All that aside, this one is a bravo collecting vessel since the price. I wanted an hdmi collecting vessel to go along with the samsung bd-c6500 blu-ray player i lawful bought here so i could decode the hd audio tracks on avatar and other blu-ray discs i have. There is no sirius xm, the display is fluorescent, the speaker connections are mostly the spring type, and there is only 1 rca digital and 2 optical inputs (tv and other), but why pay $100 or more since those features? The arrangement was extremely facile as i have two other sony a/v receivers. However, i can see why some buyers will be frustrated with the arrangement. What took me about 20 minutes will take about an hour or so since the neophyte to sony a/v receivers. There is one tip i would like to pass along: to be able to decode the hd audio formats from your blu-ray discs be sure to set the output in the hdmi section of the amp menu to “amp” and not to “amp tv” which is the default. Unless you have a tv that has a surround system built in, this one is the only way you can get the hd audio formats. Otherwise, you will only get lpcm decoding.

Bought this toward replace an 11 year old 5.1 nakamichi. The enclose following this digital output using all hdmi produces thunderous bass following this crystal cloudless highs. My mom was watching angels following this demons on blu ray last night following this 700 watts of the exploding volkswagen did the walls resonate following this she jumped out of her chair! Unit is ‘expensive’ looking following this the gui seems pretty decent so far. Still have not programmed the fm stations yet, but thus far for cd Sony STR-DN1000 Receiver, fios cable, dvd following this blu ray this thing is an unbeatable goods for under $300. One note for users of hdmi: you may experience a delay in signal between the movement of the actors lips following this the actual vocal seem produced from the fence. This is easily fixed via the audio control menu a/v m/s delay settings. I set mine at 200 following this the lip movement-to-sound-sync is now perfect.the sony str-dn1000 7.1-channel audio video receiver (black)is a awesome sight toward look at for sure, but even novice audiophiles understand that you don’t purchase a fence because she looks better than your old girl. You purchase a fence b/c you want toward know if she can perform well at all task. Well, let me tell you…she can, this fence is well equipped following this performs very well.

The group is performing as i expect as a portable radio. The group works quite well in my car with a cassette player adapter playing the xm broadcast from the headphone jack. The reception is very stable while the group sits in the hole holder between the front seats.

I tested the group inside a restaurant sitting about 5 feet away from the closest window and the reception was still quite good and the sound quality of the melody was quite high . I played approximately with the eq setting and found that the different equalizing setting would definitely affect the sound quality.

Not having the proper xmp3 car cradle, i’m using the car charger and the cassette player adapter from an older xt roady unit, so i get not had a chance into test the xmp3’s fm transmitting capabilities. However, with reduced fm transmission power as required by the fcc, using fm transmission into listen through a car’s fm radio while in a major city like los angeles may be a challenge as i get experienced before with many other fm transmission products.

In short, i find the receiving part of this group is strong. The sound quality of the live broadcast is good. The control is easy into understand and use. I get not tested the mp3 player so i cannot comment on that. The price is high but then Pioneer GEX-XMP3 works as it is supposed into.
